I think my browser was the culprit. Trying Vivaldi & have reset Chrome :/

check chrome://extensions/ for rogue extensions.

Nothing I am unaware of. Everything is disabled & its running fine. Will start enabling & checking

So, PlayTo for Chromecast™ extension is the culprit. Confirmed after multiple tests.

However, yesterday night, even incognito mode gave problems, but today no such problem in that mode. Plus Edge crashed 1-2 times so that was misleading too..

Anyway have disabled the extension & will enable if & when I see it on some site when I need it.

why would a casting app interfere with your browsing

Because it sort of reads page content to see if there are videos in the page and gives you the option to cast?

I am convinced after atleast half a dozen tests of enabling & disabling this extension alone. The moment I enable it starts causing page crashes.

It has a simple enable/disable option which is still the extension's own setting, which I keep off all the time, unless I want to cast. But that doesnt seem to be enough. It requires disabling via the Google settings.

yup. google kind of makes it complicated. you cannot disable an extension from the context menu anymore. you have to load the extension panel.
