If I were you first I would hold off getting the Galaxy S if the Google Nexus S appeals to you!

galaxy s has a 8 megapixel camera right? nexus s has a 5 megapixel camera.

and most of the other specifications are pretty much the same.

why not get it online from Samsung Galaxy S I9000 | Flipkart Mobiles

free home delivery!

When u buy a smartphone, its better to check all features u need on it once before u buy. alternatively, if someone u know has it, u can test it.
But still online buying (>10k amount) is still in nascent stage in India

Galaxy S has 5 MP cam :(

But it does not matter as the optical zoom generally matters rather than MP. I set my pics in Digicam & Mobile to around 3 MP

CAMERA
Primary Camera: 5 MP, 2592 X 1944 Pixels, Autofocus
Secondary Camera: Yes, VGA
Video Recording: 720p@30fps

strange. i thought Galaxy s had a 8 megapixel camera :|

btw. i do not think you would find an actual demo unit for playing around in most stores. maybe in some of the bigger stores.

as for buying it online? flipkart is a very popular service and their customer support is said to be very good. i don't think there is any issues ordering the phone through them.

^^Does flipkart allow use of coupons? or perhaps an EMI? Does it refund the money if the phone is not received within a particular amount of time?

i cannot really answer that question because i have not tried them personally. but a couple of folks i know have and they have been pretty happy with them. as for EMI, i believe most credit card companies would offer to convert large purchases into EMI on their end. of course, an online store would have to refund back the money, if they fail to deliver the product to your place :|

Univercell provides a 0% Interest and 0% processing fee 6 month EMI option for HDFC bank credit cards. I had bought an E71 when it was launched with emi plan.
I checked with them and this option is still available for HDFC. I think it would also be available for Citibank credit cards.
Univercell stores dont have a ready stock of Galaxy S. Else i would have grabbed one.
Also came accross Online Shopping India - Buy Mobile Phones, Digital Cameras, Camcorders, Laptops - Send Online Gifts to India - adexmart which sells Galaxy S for 27K with 1yr samsung warranty. They have not mentioned 27K is for 8GB / 16GB. I will call them and will update forum.

I spoke to Adexmart people and for a 16GB Galaxy S, they are quoting 26999 with 1 year samsung warranty. Shipping is free and it will take 2 days to be delivered to bangalore once order is placed. I think 27K is lowest online price. Any one else bought for a lower price?

Hmm Ebay offers a built-in EMI option during purchases which eases things for the customer... Also it is not mandatory that they should refund the money.. Atleast I've seen cases claiming that they already delivered the product and cheat the customers.. But seems flipkart has got a decent reputation so I guess refunding might not be an issue.

27k sounds decent... But the thing is, if you buy from an online store, you might ( or even might not ) face some prob with the phone when travelling out of station and you might not have brought your bill.. But if you buy from stores like Mobile store you can get the bill quoting your phone's IMEI number and date of purchase! This really helped me when I'd to send the phone for some repair!
