ms essencials in laptop and desktop is without AV right now ! quick heal was the last installed and its hopeless. prior was kaspersky which detected my original horoscope software as a virus . so uninstalled it. right now no av in desktop.

^You can try ESET Smart Security if you want. I have been using it for around 3 months and found it quite robust in detecting viruses especially from pen drives.The firewall is bit stringent but you can modify it a bit to allow the applications which you want to communicate with the internet by opening ports.

Regarding the legality of this method I think this is not completely legal as it is mentioned (translated using Google):
The license is valid only with the original CD from PC World (12/09). 1 plate attached to the PC World entitles you to register and use the ESET Smart Security Home Edition, only for 1 workstation.

Whereas in my method you are using a key which is exclusively meant for you.

P.S.: It is upto you to decide which method to go for.

your faint memories are right !!infact there is nothing wrong as far I have 2 genuine vistas and 1 genuine upgrade. It was an offer that you buy vista and get a upgrade version free when it is released. so all there packs are genuine. Its up to me where i use the upgrade pack. I decided to use it with OEM vista which came preinstalled and pre activated with my lappy !regarding my nick name ! yeah I am your same Pal. Just did not want any company name associated so I used this nick. hope you like it !! :yahoo:well its my third nick here in this forum !I have not got time to check your method. but will try tommorow night as its saturday day after ! I got an idea that its better to use a trial version for a month and change it and get another AV every month! so that you are not bored and you add variery in your life ! no same old biryani every day !so in a year you change 12 AVs and by year end all those 12 AVs will again release new versions and cycle continues !
