Apparently, LG has dropped the Optimus brand name across all devices. Going forward, their flagship phones will carry the G branding and their phablets will carry tge Vu branding.

I think I read somewhere that Hasbro sued LG & Asus for the Optimus and Transformer Prime branding.

that was few years ago when they first launched optimus branded devices. so i assumed they signed a deal paying them royalty on each device sold in the market. maybe they could not renew the deal.
LG has said it several times now that they want a 10% market share in indian smartphone segment. the way they are dealing with product launches in india, that is unlikely to happen for a long time

Of course you can. This will wipe your phone to factory defaults though.
