Google Chromecast (RIP)

that is bad. i was planning to buy the audio version which i could use with my creating 5.1 speakers in times of need without requiring a computer.

I have personally not tested with a Chromecast but the app does show the Cast icon when I am in my car where I stream music from the app using Bluetooth. Casting icon uses Bluetooth. Do not have access to Chromecast these days so cannot say about it.

I'm not too sure about the latest chromecast audio device.

There was a recent firmware upgrade...Give me a couple of minutes, I'll check it out and post back.

@chromaniac My mistake, I got it mixed up. If you try to cast local files via the Google Music app, you get the error "unable to play the song. can't play a sideloaded song remotely." Purchased songs and uploaded songs stream just fine.

mmm. i was not talking about local files. :D i was talking about music you have uploaded to your account. so they are available online and should be available for streaming. i have a percentage of those songs cached on my phone which i listen to while driving to save data. so casting would not use these locally stored songs which i guess is on expected lines. google's own apps are mostly about casting from the web. except for screensharing.

Yup, they seem to work fine now. I couldn't get it to work properly the first time I tried when I got the device, although I can't exactly remember what the issue was then.

Wynk and Google Play music streaming is very sketchy on my chromecast and I used to solely rely on Youtube. The latest firmware update enabled support for Spotify and I've been using that to stream music ever since, no lags or any other issues.
