was referring to this. and no i did not clean up the cabinet. it looked like chernobyl when i opened it up. took quite a lot of effort to find the power and data cable to reach where i loaded the third hard drive. broke a couple of plastic parts which would cause problems in the future. the plastic tray for the HDDs have become brittle and they break on little pressure. i guess my next desktop upgrade would include a new cabinet. this one has served me well. i guess it had to considering i spent around 6-7K on it :pumpkin:

i did manage to inhale a lot of dust while installing the hdd. man. it is a painful process. and thankfully i did not damage anything during the whole process! my cabinet is a hilarious mess of wires and dust and god knows what. ;D

i am assuming that this wd green is a 5400rpm drive? only that can explain the low temperature :D

the seagates are barracuda 7200.11 and 7200.12 :D

should have followed the same path and got myself the 7200.14 disk this time around. let's hope it does not end up becoming a htc one x for me :D

righto. i did get faster than 100 MBps write speeds when i was copying data on it. so i guess it is not that bad. i imagine reading speeds would be low. but then i just watch video content from it. :)

righto. i plan to use a hybrid or a ssd when i need to replace my primary drive running the OS. it is older than the 1TB that went bad yesterday!

ok. weird problem. i moved all the data from this 1TB drive and formatted it. now seatools do not show any problems with the drive :D i imagine the bad sector detection utility hid the bad sectors? is this drive still eligible for warranty replacement?

got a call from my computer guy, he finally got the hard drive from Rashi yesterday. One month after it was submitted for RMA. lets see how long this one lasts.
