Hi Guyz.....I have recently upgraded my hathway plan from 2mbps to 50mbps i.e. HD2 stream plan. The connection was running fine for a month and suddenly major issue started in my area (Byculla, Mumbai) the amplifier device atop my building was removed , reason according to hathway is "They are not getting permission from local cable operator to install the device. It's been 11 days my connection is down and still the same problem and after speaking to a senior person I was told to wait for 2 days and then he will tell whether should I wait or disconnect the connection.....Now I am thinking what to do...wait or disconnect.... issed-off:
Sad. But typically hathaway should have signed an agreement with the operator. Try and ask both of them what went wrong or was it that the agreement wasn't renewed.
The biggest problem with Hathway is their requirement to tie up with local cable operators. While this makes it easy for them to get access to homes, it is equally easy for the cable operators to throw them out. I ended up being with Hathway simply because I had virtually no choice. I have been using MTNL DSL (and continue to keep it as a backup line) but because my house is about 4 to 5 kms from the exchange, speeds are terrible. I considered the VDSL option but MTNL itself told me that since I am that far, I should not bother. When looking for other alternatives, I realised that neither Tata nor Airtel provide internet in our complex - because of cable operator muscle. So I was left with no option but to go for Hathway - and that too with the stupid login screen. I was delighted when they started providing Docsis and the screen went away but that was pure luck.
If you aren't getting Hathway from your local cable operator, then ask him which internet connection he gives. I understand that some of them do provide very fast speeds. For instance, I know of another cable operator giving speeds of 10 to 15 mbps generally and specific sites like Google, Youtube etc at a higher speed of 40 Mbps. You never know, it might even have better pings than Hathway.
Docsys 3 has been slow / patchy speeds for last 2 days and today no connection at all. Help desk says it's a binding problem. I'm at Mahalaxmi. Anyone else facing similar issues? Crossing my fingers for a quick resolution tomorrow.
Hi shethsa,
Sorry to here that, can you tell me which modem u r using many "Cisco DPC3008" users have this same problem apparently this modem is diffective, if not Cisco DPC3008 then Plz tell us your modem model number.
Haven't faced any issues here in Kandivali East area. One question: For people who are using the DSL 2750U router do you need to restart the router after you boot the modem? Does this problem also occur with other modems?
Update: engineer visited. Problem resolved. Rusted connector on terrace. Don't they make better quality stuff? It's been just 3 months and already rusted, even before monsoons.
