3. No web authentication required. This is a BIG change. The guy at Hathway told me that Docsis 3.0 customers are considered premium customers, so no webpage authentication is required. This is fantastic!
Big deal indeed

It is close to a month that I have been using the Docsis 3.0 connection from Hathway. I thought it might interest people to know my experience:
1. The connection has never been down. A week ago my wifi router had to be reset but I wouldn't blame the connection for it (in fact I did not even reset the cable modem).
2. The speed is almost consistently 48 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload. One morning the speed had dropped to about 35Mbps download but I did not come across any other situation when that has happened. I downloaded the Win 8.1 update and it took me all of 15 minutes to download. It is at times like these when the connection benefits are very apparent.
3. Hathway has a separate customer care department to deal with Docsis 3.0 issues. I had to call them as I had a minor billing issue (Rs 50 or so) and they resolved it for me quite fast.
4. I had a lot of people telling me that my usage would spike because of the faster speeds. That hasn't happened. I have until 29th of this month to reach my FUP limit of 25GB and I am still at 10GB (after downloading a 3.6 GB Win 8.1 update!).
All in all, I would certainly recommend this to anyone who doesn't have large data needs (I know I just ruled out 80% of the forum as a result) but for someone like me who has reasonable FUP limit expectations, this is a very sweet deal indeed.

Does that do it?

Those pings I posted were on normal mtnl ADSL.I have bsnl fiber, but that's besides the point. As far as mtnl fiber is concerned, if you find a suitable plan, and if its available at your place, no reason to not go for it.

Isn't High speeds should be for high data downloads....50Mbps-25GB...or 4Mbps-100GB..whats the difference ??
Still gonna end up with small speeds post FUP,just sooner or later!!

Thanks, I guess I'll stick to my tata connection, I can't be playing online games with those kind of pings lol.

pinging these on mine

[*]380
[*]259
[*]152
[*]249
[/list]
Yeah, you are better of on Tata as the pings seem better. What is your usage plan like?

They didn't charge me anything for it (I had an existing line - they didn't charge for the modem either) but I think monaal mentioned sometime ago that the installation charges were Rs 1,000.
