Guys,

Please help me understand this.

In Router settnigs page, I am on Status page where it shows the ip address, dns address and other things related to my gateway:

I have changed the DNS ip address to use open dns. When i do ipconfig /all on my PC. I can see open DNS ips under DNS Server, But the above router/gateway status page shows some other DNS ips.

I am still getting stuck at opening some sites. I saw in firefox in the status bar it says connecting to xyz site and after that stops the status at looking up xyz site...

I think still i have DNS lookup problem.

Can you Help on that.

Also i checked on my Linksys router. there is one refresh button. Is that Restart router button?
@funnyguy
Refer to the screenshots you have uploaded, dont give any Static DNS IP 1 or Static DNS IP 2 instead in your LAN and Wifi you assign the DNS which if of openDNS.
DNS 1: 218.248.255.146 & DNS 2: 218.248.255.139 are of ISP which is default when you connect. Indian ISP doen not allow to change the DNS (no idea about other countries) so no use giving DNS ip's in modem/router. Please give the DNS in the LAN and WIfi adapter.

Not entirely sure about 'refresh' being restart. You could as well ask your folks to manually power down the router and then switch it on again. I hope this isn't he MTU thing again. Coz the symptoms seem very similar. What MTU are you using right now? It can't be a DNS lookup problem as you're able to connect to most sites.

MTU is 1492.

Can you please try 1454 as well? @all,I also seem to have the same problem now. Earlier a lot of sites were not opening at MTU of 1500. After I tried 1492 and 1454, I'm still not able to sign into Live messenger or access Microsoft sites. Any idea why this is happening despite the usage of the above MTU settings? Thanks!

if you are facing the problem inspite of using opendns servers.. then either some firewall is blocking it or some virus/spyware

Guys,

I am really frustrated with the frequent disconnections. I called up linemen he told that he found some problem in the wiring that comes to your home and he told that he will fix up.

But now the disconnections has increased. There is a DSL light on the modem it keeps starting blinking(whcih means that it keeps getting disconnected)

That line men guy donno what he did. it has really gone bad.

right now i am composing this from beam cable. which has disconnections prob but they are not like this...

I dunno whether it is the same for all of you. I took BSNL coz AIRTEL and TATA told they c`cannot give connection at my place :( :(

Give some tips. i want to catch that line men 2morrow and ask him to fix.

I called now in the evening. he just kept telling hello and after 5 mnts i called now i get a message sound that the mobile is switched off :( :(

Check below the photo of the splitter. You can see from the below photo clear. The main wire from outside is coming and is put manually into one manual splitter. from there one small 2-sided phone wire is there. one is coming from that splitter and is now going to ADSL SPlitter. from there one is going to modem/router and other to the phone. Is this ok? or wrong?

Note: the splitter which i am holding with my hand is the one where the wire is manually fitted inside the splitter and from that splitter the wire then goes to ADSL Splitter.
