Help me to understand 3G

Hi, I got 3G data card today with 3 G sim..Will it work in 2G Coverage wher 3G network is not avlbe ? what will be the Max speed in 2G Tower ?

3G datacard with 3G sim will work in 2G coverage under GSM/EDGE/GPRS. However, you have to manually configure it to use 2G services incase 3G isn't available in your area.2G tower's speed varies.. but its not more than 200kbps itself. I have a 3G Data card with only 2G coverage and the speed sucks badly (with 4bar signal too )

Hi, Can you tell me the exact spped what we will get? I m going to Dhupguri West bengal...I need to work from home..will VPN get connected if i use 3G SIM in 3G Datacard in 2G networkcoverage ?

I told you already, 2G is not for VPN. you will probably get disconnected as VPN requires good ping/latency which you won't get in 2G (speed will be near 200kbps or even below)
