the 61.16.150.1 must have gone down last night ("connection refused" etc etc.) and speeds jumped to 60-100 kilobytes/sec...

good things aren't meant to last :-(

hotwire bumped me up from their 64k to 96k plan... the first month showed a speed increase ("speed"? haha :-( ) but all march, i've been stuck in the 6.8-7k/s range. any others having the same experience? shouldn't this new plan ("ruby") theoretically mean speeds of upto 10k?there must be some way other than giving a disinterested "line-boy/bill collector" an earful (which he sympathetically might nod his head to, but forget/ignore as soon as he's out of the door)... i think this recent "notification", of the 256k v/s 'broadband' anomaly present all of us a good opportunity, to think of ways for/of collective action.those of you living in delhi must've surely noticed mtnl's ad's, offering its wares... the focus being 1) minimal speed of 256k, and 2) "unlimited time". the catch, of course, is the scam with the data limit...hoping some suggestions are thrown up...

Sometimes, speeds may drop to that, but I have never experienced such low speeds using hotwire. I will be switching over to the 128 kbps plan after this month, as I want to get a faster speed. Otherwise, you can just contact this cable guy and ask him why the decrease of speed so often.

hmm this thread's been inactive for a while now... but are any of you guys (who are on hotwire) getting the impression that hotwire is blocking bittorrent?

Hotwire doesnt block anything. Check your upload speed. Maybe that is the reason for your impression i.e. if you dont give anything on a p2p network u dont get anything

The 64 K plan (hotwire gold old) that i had one year back had an official upload speed of 16 Kbps, maybe its the same in the new 64 K plan.
