So i have recently got bsnl ftth service and its been good, lot better then traditional adsl2 system, So speed is great too but i want someone to look at these parameters of fibre cable and please help me to find out about the quality of fibre cable, So here are these parameters ......and i am unable to understand them.

EPON StateRegistered and certified
OAM_LinkEstablished

Optical Module Input Power(dBm)-17.4
Optical Module Output Power(dBm)2.0
Optical Module Supply Voltage(uV)3330000
Optical Transmitter Bias Current(uA)11582
Operating Temperature of the Optical Module(°C)61

I am getting 50+ mbps download speed, but my upload speed is somewhere between 15-20 Mbps. This is my ONT stats. Is this normal? Is my upload speed low because of some other reason?

@varkey bro plz help is these values normal ? i contacted my isp saying that input power should be less than -27 but he is saying its fine otherwise the modem will show red lights, so wat to do ? Also i am experiencing speed fluctuations and random drops.

This will most probably kill your upload speeds, some users were lucky that their ONT was able to sense signal around -30 dBm, it might not be your case, ask your LCO to see if cable has some bends or bad splicing,etc , I aim for -25 dBm

@Abel This is lower than the ideal range, but things would still work, and TBH personally I've not noticed a degradation in quality or performance due to signal levels even upto -33 dBm.

So as long as you are not facing issues where there is optical signal drops (PPP disconnects should be a different reason altogether and might be at BSNL level), you should be fine.

Without a real problem, it is difficult to convince the LCO as well to fix the signal levels.

Personal experience, my signal level is at -33 dBm for the last one week or so, I don't see any real issue. Everything works great.

my issue is that i get random slow speeds for few seconds upto a minute such that even whatsapp msg wont be send and whatsapp status buffers ( that slow infact) . Also while using discord the signal is shown as weak and the speed randomly rises and drops.

The isp told me to do a ping test and after doing for 1 hour i got 9 request timed out.

@varkey
he also said it shuld work fine upto -30dmb.
