Hi All,
My knowledge about fiber broadband and associated devices is almost nil.
I have D-Link 816 router that has 1 WAN and 4 LAN ports. The RJ45 cable that comes into my house plugs into WAN port. I am also in process of buying WiFi 6 router.
I have Airtel Fiber broadband connection. However so far only RJ45 LAN cable drops into my home.

Rest of the equipment (whatever it is) is in the common area not controlled by me.

Now Airtel says they are changing the cables and going forward a fiber cable will directly come into my home and they will provide their own router that will have fiber cable input. However I am interested to use my own WAN port router in Router mode (Not AP mode)

Is there any device that can sit in between the fiber and WAN port of my router so that it will convert fiber into ethernet, yet allow me to use my own WAN port router in router mode?
Any clarity will be great.
I am asking because I am trying to understand the feasibility thru this forum. I can always ask Airtel but they may not provide honest answers.
Thanks and regards.

Is there anything like ONT or equivalent device that can sit between fiber and WAN port of my router? Just a guess based on some internet search. Thanks

@gopichandpai Thanks. I hope I will be able to use my router in normal router mode. Airtel gives me PPPOE connection.
If it becomes an AP I lose many of the routers features.

I couldn't understand your answer. If you don't mind can you elaborate your answer please. It's my request. Since morning I'm trying to use my Airtel router to another Airtel router. But couldn't succeeded. Please guide me in this.

When you get your airtel router it will be a ont and router combination either zte model or a Nokia model. You can ask the tech team to enable the bridge connection on their router which means that you can connect one lan port of the airtel router to your own router wan port and use the airtel pppoe details in your own router and connect to the internet
