IMGUR is nice, the fox addon is real handy and the websites gallery is fun to browse.I use IMGUR basically because of the awesome addon features.I never knew about Window Shake feature in IMGUR though, what is it?
Window Shake feature is a Windows 7 feature. you shake a window and every other app would minimize. it helps with imgur because you can then drag and drop a file from the desktop to IMGUR for uploading.
imgur had issues after they launch a major update a couple of days ago. it seems to be fine for now. the fact remains a major chunk of reddit is dependent upon it and the service is definitely profitable so he would do whatever is required to keep it running.
@Sushubh: Does IMGUR belong to you (asking because a link to it is there in your sig), or is the link just a referral link like Dropbox? And BTW what will happen to all the images that I'm using on several forums on the web. Will they become unavailable?
hah. imgur is too big man. it is probably in top 100 sites on the web today. i link to it because i do not allow attachments on the forum and a lot of people want to know how to share images here. i just like imgur. i pay for this service. use it for my blogs and everywhere else as well. the link is normal. it's not a referral link. imgur remove images that are not accessed in the last three months. so this is a problem. but i have not really seen images posted here on the forum disappearing. since i have a paid account, the images i share from my account are sort of permanent.
Thanks for the info, I didn't know about the three months thing! But my question was towards their 'blackout' day. Will the images be visible tomorrow (18th Jan) on various forums and websites?
i do not see any reason why they would block access to the images hosted on their servers. it would be too stupid to do that. the blackout would probably mean that their website would be blacked out for the day. imgur has already said that paying users would have access to the backend. regular users would probably get the SOPA related messages. most web services i believe are going to use a wikipedia like technique where they would be shown the message with an option to skip to the service.
