It reminds me of how Darren Bravo was compared and lot of people was saying he was going to be the next Brian Lara. He was getting the same amount of runs, avg ,individual score just like how Lara did in his earlier days except Bravo became a liability and created a huge string of failures at the international level.
He would have been out on two occasions that day, one is at the beginning of the innings when KP dropped the catch and the other one went in between the keeper and the 1st slip which was not attempted.He ran his luck that day and hence, Dhoni got an opportunity to back his decision.

When I think back on some players who played 2-3 games max and never got a chance again, I feel real pity for them. And then there are a few who remained Ranji giants till they retired.
