they can start by making it easy for people to file FIRs first maybe. and of course, it is just simpler to work with google and Apple to block stolen devices than to create your own solution. in the end it is all about control and surveillance. and not for public safety.

I think online fir is available for lost mobile but its only for legal reporting purpose. No one will do any investigation.

Many people have reported even with live location, no one cares to retrieve the device. The usual corruption stuff and no incentive to do their job.

@Smh even I don't want extra apps on my device. Only thing that I can think of for making that app mandatory was that it could've helped with tracking IMEI tampering. What was juvenile was that people were comparing it to Pegasus and some were even ready to root their devices just to remove an app that was not even collecting any data by default. Rooting would involve unlocking the bootloader and would disable frp and every other protection feature. That's like telling the doctor to amputate a leg just for a small cut😂.
Anyway the govt had no incentive with that app and were happy to roll it back. We happily give our data voluntarily to US and Chinese corporates. Do you really believe the govt doesn't have access to that data😂
Also, you don't need root to remove an app even if it was preloaded. For Android, you just run a command over adb to disable/uninstall it. Apple would anyway not put it in.

That's how shit starts. Oh it's a nothing optional totally non mandatory app. Next thing you know they want you to link it to the aadhaar and show it's qr every time you need to use any service on your phone.
On paper they have best guidelines but in real world execution is extremely poor. U r not supposed to give copies of Aadhar as it's digitally verified and signed but everywhere they need a physical copy for collecting and selling it to bhelpuri wala.

Precisely they already have everything they need why force this non sense. Just sets a wrong precedent for future. I have not seen any explanation even trying to convince how it can stop tampering.

No one is volunteering to share unnecessary any data with anyone that's such bs and naive. It's always without true consent.

They will outsource the app to someone's nephew and next thing u know it will get leaked everywhere on internet, ofcourse no one will acknowledge it got leaked. This is the most worrisome thing, the sheer incompetence to keep any data safe. They never learn anything or acknowledge. Remember what happened with digiyatra, lol it was a private entity never promoted as one.

Just today I read some one created site allowing anyone to find all kyc and live location with phone number. From leaked mobile company data.

1. That app is not collecting any data for now. If you look at the website, the app looks more like a web wrapper than an actual standalone app. It was purely a convience move as apps are more convenient and provide more reach. That's why they are a thing. What happens in the future is purely hypothetical. Everyone got bent out of shape over point 7(b) which btw never said the app would be uninstallable on the user side.

2. I get that you have a problem with the current govt, most people do. Just don't wrap it up in the garb of data privacy. For aadhaar copies, you can fight it out even when you get a new SIM which is the most common data leak. They eventually relent and do KYC via other means. Aadhaar is just convenience and for many people is financial incentive as well.

3. Yes you are volunteering data to Google when you buy an Android device. You are volunteering data when you use google dialer or messages app. You are volunteering data when you use meta services. Do you really believe the govt doesn't have access to that data. Most people would share data if the other option is being inconvenienced and it's fine. Digiyatra, again is convenience, don't use it. Same with sanchaar saathi. It's a massive headache if you truly want your data to be private.

4. Even I tried that new data leak. It got some useless data which most likely is from a telecom company. No location or address. There are rumours of data leaks of aadhaar data as well which are available for payment. Unless you are a important enough for your data to be paid for, let's hope there is nothing to worry about. Just stop sharing aadhaar copies with minimal resistance, especially to mobile operators.

Lol u know what ironic is if your favourite party was in opposition today, they would be the ones shouting on top of their lungs against this app nonsense with all valid logic. They were doing same for adhaar when in opposition and later piggybacked on it.

With digital frauds money is transferred to bank accounts, they have scammer phone no location and everything. How the money can vanish and frauds continue with all the digital traces and kyc available. May be it's the lack of enforcement of law and intention to solve the issue.

There are many nations in the world doing just fine without forcing all these nonsense on its citizens.

May be everything is not about politics. Gov will always keep changing but bad precedents once set become permanent. In this case What will happen in future is very predictable it's not entirely hypothetical. This is already in pipeline https://www.reuters.com/sustainabil...ance-apple-google-samsung-protest-2025-12-05/ now they want you to keep your location always on.

Even u know bad actors will find n number of ways to circumvent these locations, app restrictions. It's worth the hassle for them. Only ordinary citizens will end up sacrificing more rights and privacy.

Just give one good reason to go through all the trouble of preinstalling it. Just one reason how it solves any tampering or help you get it back.

No convenience or superficial benefits like that.

This below article actually provides logical good points why people are against it. Suprised it's from Indiatoday.

what i found out this week somehow related to current discussion is that... i have to submit my aadhaar card, if i have to attend a destination wedding of a niece. it would be passed around in whatsapp chats. required for airline and hotel booking. no further comments.

People are just too comfortable sharing all these docs and then get surprised with all frauds happening, in someway they enable this.

For domestic flight and hotel id is only required when you reach there. Just correct name spelling is required as in id.
So there is no real requirement to ask for any id at all. But just like that they will ask for it.

For international aadhaar is invalid.

I just use my voterid for all these purposes. Atleast no bank accounts linked to it. If no other way out, use masked Aadhaar. Have never had problems at Hotels with voterid.
