Im using Huawei K4505 3G USB modem and i was using the particular SIM for past 2 months. You all know that UMG1831 & K4505 heats up more than other modems.

Yesterday morning, when i tried to browse, mobile partner popped up a window stating that The SIM card is Invalid. 20 days ago only i recharged it for Rs,4200. It was working perfect till last night 3 AM. I checked the SIM with mobile phone it said NO SERVICE. When contacted CC, they made their usual comedies.

So, i directly went to nearby office and enquired about the problem im facing.

Concerned person said that already same problem was faced by more than 5 customers. He said that this is due to heating up of modem and SIM is affected because of heat and turns unusable. He asked me to pay Rs.59 for new SIM and said tht if the problem again happens, he will try to replace it for free.

My question is, whether the heating up of modems is really related to the SIM invalid problem? Any guess?

No heating should not effect the usability of the sim ... according to me this can only be impaired by transfer of electrostatic charges to the pin of the sim card but get another sim and try. also keep the 3g modem in a cool place and allow enough ventilation , it may be a hardware issue.
