hey at my dad's office its a ut starcom router 300R2U,

it is showing
SNR Margin (dB): 30.3 21.5
Attenuation (dB): 23.5 35.5
Output Power (dBm): 3.5 75.5
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 24312 1227
Rate (Kbps): 2047 263

I hav ticked only ADSL 2+ Enabled option under advanced setup -> DSL Settings
not only do you have a good line at your home, but you also have a good line at your dad's office. lucky chap.

just like crazysah gets all favours from tata-vsnl..sanke1 gets all favours from mtnl.

If u dont expect to use the phone all night a direct connection is always a option. It takes care of any intereference the Phone may be introducing in to the line

@skorpio1u think just to find attainable speed all that effort wud be worth?

Will removing the splitter and connecting the phone line directly to the modem make any difference?[/quote] NO. The telephone to be connected to phone and modem to ADSL. only. If your telephone line has a junction box with static suppressor, open the box and connect directly to the splitter in put line. Check your speed at SpeedGuide.net :: Your Guide to Broadband Download the TCP/IP optimiser program.
