attainable speed depends on modulation type u selectedcrazysah seems like company's own representative while i m not :rofl:

@amish
Dude ,You gotta do what it takes to find out what u can get max.
I mean in ideal conditions with zero interference if u can peak out at a certain figure...........thats what u can hope for at best
or atleast fight with MTNL saying its THAT MUCH below 2048kbps

i get 212 KB/s.. thats almost what others get as well. attainble rate is what i can get if exchange provides the speed. but then they have synced me to 2048, so i am not going to get more than that. what wud i achieve just by searching for what my modem can achieve?

They can even restrict the speed using other means..i am synced at 2048 kbps but managing a max of 390 kbps even on MTNL's test site

hmmm..mostly its problem at ur end. or ur server is too loaded with internet surfers.

No its not that there are other ppl getting full speed from same exchange/gateway/BRAS

Yes when I got connection 6 months ago(590NU), they synced me at 512 kbps. But they have a software limitation of speed as well so I was getting 32 KBps only.

@cyberwizif others are getting speed then why dont u?i dont think they will specifically target u and restrict ur speed.

@amish i am smart enuff to know that problem is not at my end and as far as MTNL is concerned dont generalise...my speeds have been restricted in the past atleast 2 times every month..and i was sick and tired of complaining..why it doesnt happen in mumbai or other exchanges of delhi ..i dont know..

i dont think they will specifically target u and restrict ur speed.

I visited MTNL exchange for getting some work done last year and had to go to room that housed DSLAMS, I noticed on their screens that most of the settings "could be" done manually thru a web page.

E.g. If a subscriber was on DSL NU, Web App still allowed sync rates other then 256 kbps. Ideally this should be defined based ONLY on package/plan.

My guess is, their router settings might be "manual".

And it could simply mean a human error to enter a wrong value somewhere.
