I have a LG refrigerator and couple of weeks back i got a call form a lady who mentioned they are calling from LG factory directly and there is a defective part in the LG refrigerator which i have. They would send a technician to replace it. When i enquired which part, they did not share much details as they were unaware. Few days back , i got a call from local service Center saying there is a request raised from backend for a replacement and they would send in a technician. When i asked the same set of questions, they were unable to answer as to why they have to replace the part or the part details. They just said it will be done free of cost if you are interested.

I am curious to know if anyone else had got a similar call? is this some type of SCAM? or a genuine callback of a defective part?

Most likely the people from the showroom are leaking data about people purchasing high ticket products.

I have bought multiple LG products in last couple of years including Refrigerator but never received any such call. I have a 13 year old LG washing machine(fully automatic) and it is working fine till date without any major issues. Their products don't have defects usually and after sales support is very good atleast in tier-1 cities. I'd suggest you to shoot an email to them mentioning all the details, they will help you sort it out.

Call LG Customer care and confirm. A few days ago I got a call from unknown number. The lady said my ICICI insurance policy is due for renewal. When I said I don't have any policy at all. She told me my full name, DOB, email, residential address all correct. She also told me a fake policy number.
So I was stunned. Someone has sold this data to them.
Then just to recheck I called ICICI customer care and confirmed that there's no such policy.

She was a scammer trying to use social engineering methods to drain money from my pocket.

This kind of a situation warrants for a proper police investigation if the person has the time and resources, but I wonder what would be the end result. Police walo aur lawyers ki kamai ho jayegi.

End result would be scamsters are caught, but yes if only we have time and resources. On contrary scamsters may have better police and lawyers support :D
