Ok, I have been having these really weird problems and I need some help.

I had been having link problems for a while now. The link would be highly unstable and keep going on and off, so I wasn't able to do any work. I though this was due to poor USB connectivity so I bought a LAN card, but the link problem stayed.
This morning I went into the BSNL admin service at my ip address 192. etc and reset the settings. Since then I was unable to connect to the internet due to constant error 678. I then made some settings in the ip admin as written in a documentation provided by BSNL, after which I managed to connect, but only sometimes, and the connections get off frequently with error 678.

When I reset my ip admin settings my Data lamp in my modem turned on and a new automatic setting of internet connectivity opened up, which doesn't do much. I noticed that this data lamp lights up whenever there is the error 678 coming.

Now, I can connect sometimes and sometimes not.

Please advise, I am attaching my settings page for reference. I have the Siemens C2110 Black modem.

Are you using a dialer ?
BSNL is set in 0 and 35 click edit Save Reboot.

CPE Configuration
Nokia Seimens c2110 CPE configuration
(With this configuration, the third party PPPoE software installation is not required on
customer PC. Only TCP/IP address setting (As per above procedure) is required).
i. Open the browser and type the url http://192.168.1.1.
ii. Type username admin and password admin in login window.
iii. On left panel, click on Home-> Internet Configuration
iv. Locate the parameter Wan Type and select PPP.
v. On the right hand delete the PPP account
vi. It will take some time , wait . Then Click on new on right side and name it as PPPoE and you will find VCI setting as 38 change it to 35.click next.

vii. Then keep everythin unchanged just click next and select Brigded and ensure below LAN/STMP.

viii. click next keep every thin unchanged now click Admin click reboot . important check whether it is selected from last.

and you are done with modem configuration.

Option 2 :

Save reboot. wait for two minutes.

Please neglect my post as members/essbebe already posted a reply. You can continue to troubleshoot with him. sorry for any inconvenience caused

1. Delete all the PVC profiles except bridge_0_35. One profile at a time. C2110 is slow and takes a lot of time to process these requests... WARNING!: Don't turn off/restart your modem at any point while deleting these profiles. During the process don't play with any other settings. When there's only bridge_0_35 left in the page, wait for a few minutes & restart the modem once through 192.168.1.1

2. Is the splitter correctly installed? It should be exactly like this one:

3. Try connecting using your username/pass through your PC. Can you connect? Still getting error 678?

4. Post your line stats (SNR/Line Att.) from the advanced stats page at 192.168.1.1

Ok I followed the info in the BSNL website. And I've checked the option of always on while setting up the connection. Now I can't connect to the internet with my windows connection but when ever the modem comes on with all four lights steady, I can surf the net. Is this always on connection going to affect my usage. I mean, will it increase my usage unnecessarily since it is always on?? please reply

And I've checked the option of always on while setting up the connection.

Now I can't connect to the internet with my windows connection (* dialer connection )
but when ever the modem comes on with all four lights steady,
I can surf the net. (* You are on PPPoE mode Not "Bridged")

Is this always on connection going to affect my usage. (* NO)
I mean, will it increase my usage unnecessarily since it is always on??
(NO. But some traffic between Modem and Exchange possible. can be ignored )

please reply
please use or enter key /paragraphs.

Thanks. Now the PPPoE connection, as you said is working fine.

I just included the current config page screenshot for reference. Please tell me if the config is ok?

And what do I have to do if want to change to bridged mode?

create a dialer first.
PPPoE DIALER INSTALLATION

If already Dialer is available

open modem pages
go to tools
and save present settings to say C:/My Documents /C2110 Nov24th
Now edit the first entry for "bridged" MODE. AND CHANGE vci TO 35
save Reboot. wait for two minutes.
If entry is not accepted edit last entry . ( already working in PPPoE)

Copy/paste this data ( No edit )
Start/ RUN type cmd Ok
New window
Type ipconfig /all
2.Post this page

heres the page screen shot but it changes whenever the connection is not active i.e. the link goes off

heres the ip info
