The dates for 2009 LS elections are being soon, and again the big question arrives, NDA or UPA again. Or some 3rd front?
After much hyped news about new alliance, it seems Cong-NCP-SP-RJD would go along in coming election. BJP also seeming to gathering alliance partners slowly, already RLD has joined in UP.
So the big game of Indian Political League 2009 begins...

Lok Sabha poll dates to be announced today
New Delhi: The three-member Election Commission is meeting on Monday (02/03/2009)in New Delhi to finalise dates for the upcoming General Elections.

The final schedule is expected to be announced at around 1530 hrs IST on Monday. The elections are expected to be held in April-May are likely to be held in five to seven phases.

The model code of conduct will come into effect as soon as the election dates are announced.

Dates for 5-phase Lok Sabha polls announced
The election dates for the 15th Lok Sabha have been announced. The elections will be held in five phases.

The voting dates are April 16, April 23, April 30, May 7 and May 13 while counting will be held on May 16.

This would go offtopic, but I believe and many has said, Hinduism is ideal way of life. It never force itself on any individual and in last 1000-2000 years many attempts were made by other religions to convert Hindus to other religions.
What Purohit and others were trying to put check on Muslim invasion on India (as per some media reports). We have example of Afghanistan & Pakistan.
I am not expert in religious matters, but if you (warthog) want, you can create seperate thread and let all put in their views

Any party which sponsors religion should never be allowed to rule a country.FOr any country to have a rule of law and constitutional principles there should be a separation of church and state.(temple and state in case of India).Hinduism is not a way of life,worshiping 100+dieties is not a way of life but an organized religion just like Christianity or Islam.(see the defination of religion.)So shake hands with your ram sena buddies who openly attack women, who just want to express their freedom. IMO the NDA or sangh parivar should be banned from contesting elections until they stop preaching hatred and fascism ie hindutvaYou say purohit wanted to check muslim invasion so that it means you justify terrorism!.You are worse than hypocrit.I do not support any party as all are bought and paid for.My dream candidate would be Ron Paul type of person which we would have in about 50-100 yrs or i can goto USA and live there and if i have to vote then i exercise 49-0 clause.(vote for nobody)

^^ you vote for 49-0. then what? supposedly there are tons of people like you in your constituency (you need more than 50% of voters in your constituency) that vote for 49-0 & all the candidates are dismissed. then what? new political candidates from the same parties? again 49-0? then what? even if u keep doing it, it wont make sense until entire india keeps doing it. only then would we have a revolution, which i dont think will happen. so 49-0 seems BS to me.... on the note of NDA being related to hindu religion & stuff.... what happened when they were in power from 99-04.development but i dont remember any hindutva nonsense. secondly, did they make the temple?NOwhy?if they make the temple, how will they get the votes next time? the fact is - they keep saying that if we get full majority by themselves (> 50%), they will make the temple. even they know it that in the near future BJP is not going to get absolute majority, so they are NOT going to make the temple. so, basically i'm voting for development. what has this government done? quotas, terrorism, not hanging afzal guru, finance budget, etc. all crap i'm voting for a change

I agree with Warthog. IF NDA comes to power, India is doomed. Expect carnages to hidden genocides. The day wont be far off when India will be equivalent of hindu taliban

I would personally prefer NDA too, but I think its highly unlikely. BJP looks like its lost in the wilderness, they are not getting many allies and I don't think Advani is not charismatic enough to make BJP win large no. of seats on its own. The worst case scenario is Left coming to power. The current economic slow down and left's economic policy is a dangerous mix.
