which one is a better buy.ipod looks better. black ipod is SEXY. but has no fm radio.zune looks crap. has a better looking UI. has fm radio.30 gig model. both cost the same. which one would you recommend?

Do not buy any of them. Spend your money on a decent mobile phone + excellent ear phones, you will get similar voice quality and options of choosing your own media player.

It's not quite so simple... it isn't at least if you have are an avid listener and have a substantial collection. I am quite into music, but at the same time am not as gung-ho as some other people I know, and my mp3 collection is 15GB+ which no mobile phone can currently support. So even if you spend top dollar and get one of those 4GB models, you still will have to often transfer music to and fro, and that's something that I would find very annoying as it defeats the purpose of having a DAP. But then again, if people can live with the shuffle, they can certainly live with that.So it all really depends on your needs, Sushubh. I would also say that don't limit yourself to Apple and Microsoft, there are many other companies like Creative, iriver etc. that make excellent players and are at times better value for money.

Go for Apple, as their customer care and repair service is quite brilliant in india. My friend had his earphones and ipod mini replaced after it had a problems with the screen(he had droped it).And they didn't charge anything :)I have no idea about the Zune player. U can also look at the creative series which are quite nice.If you are a avid music listener and like great sound pumping out the earphones, then drop the idea of a mp3 player as they will only dissapoint you.

what rubbish.... I have a Creative Zen XTRA and I get an awesome sound from it!!! Maybe you mean that the standard earphones that come with mp3 players are crap, which I would agree with. You should definitely get some good quality headphones/earphones. Sony Ericsson is the only company I know of that gives excellent earphones standard, although they only do so with a couple of their walkman models.

I tried some Sony Ericsson phone couple weeks back. Not sure about its storage, but sound quality of earphones was excellent and built in media player was quite usable.

u cannot possibly listen to all the 15 gigs of music in a given period of time........15 gig wud be like 1500-2000 odd songs..........

well you don't quite watch all your movies in one sitting, yet you have a DVD collection.... the point is that I like having each and every song at my disposal so that I can hear whatever I want to hear whenever I want to hear it (Though as I said, I know that not everyone feels that way). That to me is the best thing about hdd based players. Otherwise a mp3-cd player would be much better - it would be cheaper, you can carry as many or as few discs as you want, and the battery life is much better.
