Hey guys!

To everyone who is using an eSIM, how has your experience been? Have you noticed any differences after the switch?
Also, if I understand it right, formatting a device should preserve the eSIM right?

I am contemplating switching.

Thanks!

I have switched to Jio eSim on Samsung S20+.
I have not noticed any difference in calls/data/SMS. It works fine like normal SIM.

But formatting phone might loose eSim configuration. I have not needed to do it so far.

Is there any benefit other than having dual sim on phones which does not support two physical sims?

What phone do you use? Changing to e-SIM does not make a difference to network or phone performance. It just obviates the need for physical space within the phone body to accomodate another SIM card.

In some phones, for e.g. the iPhone, erasing the phone or resetting it can delete e-SIM configuration. Not sure about what happens on Android. Check your device specific instructions.

Another drawback is you can't change to other phone easily if problem happens in phone. Specifically when roaming.

One advantage is that, if phone is lost/stolen, data connection or phone itself cannot be switched off at least till battery dies. Possibly this may help in tracking it using find my device option.
