Mikrotik hEX S (2025 refresh)

This is a nice inexpensive option for folks looking to ditch their Airtel Fiber ONT that will work with an ODI XPON SFP with all the RouterOS options unlocked.
It's a dual-core 64 bit ARM CPU with 512 MB RAM and 128 MB NAND flash.
It will run containers from a USB pen drive, but doesn't have enough single-thread performance for CAKE / SQM to be a good choice for gaming.
The USB can also run common Huawei 4G / LTE dongles for a secondary backup WAN.

While not for every one, it may be perfect for some folks who want more control over their fiber connection at home or office - hEX S (2025) | MikroTik

It just launched, it will take the usual one to two months to arrive at Indian shores.

It would cost around 8-10k, so I'm not sure how it is an inexpensive option to replace Airtel ONT. lol
