25k patents .. thats huge one .. they lost the nortal deal .. so this is way to recover .. this sound a good deal instead of paying 4.5 B$ just for patents.. they were important one .. but still this deal is good as Motorola were also struggling .... and google also needed good hardware partner ..
actually reports say that google was originally interested only in the rights to the patents owned by motorola. and we can only assume that motorola was asking for too much for the patents. so they decided to buy the entire company instead.
I still remember Motorola as in the sticker of old mobile phones. A pity they fell behind. Some 4 years back Moto Rockr was really appealing. I even thought of making it my first phone. Hope Google will give back their lost glory.
motorola was at one point of time the largest mobile phone company in the usa. and the second largest mobile company here in india. now samsung has both of these spots.
errm. i do not think anyone has ever challenged Nokia in india!maybe in the very beginning when we had companies like siemens and ericsson selling their phones. but over the last decade or so... nokia has dominated the indian and global market!
well the market price obviously went up to match the google valuation. google is paying a 60% premium so the market price is still below what they are paying for it. i am surprised that no blog/analyst could predict this move. if they had, a lot of people would have made a lot of money today!

well it looks like the world is going to be divided between Apple. ms, google , next in line is music industry ,if rumors are true, the big 4 are all up for sale again by apple and google.
