My old no. does not connect to 120.XX seriesIt only connects to 202,203 or 59 series. (Hence I use it in data card)But my new no. connects to 59 or 120 series. (I use it as my main no. and light mobile internet usage)The 202 and 203 are oldest IP series MTNL used for dial up connections. Now since dialup is used very less, MTNL has added those IP's to 3G services. The way routing is done, the less server load enables better pings and speeds on those series.

59 series is slow as well. But not as slow as 120 series.I will sum up my experience with IP series202.XX & 203.XX -> Best pings and Fastest possible speeds59.XX -> In between (In both pings and speeds)120.XX -> Average 150ms to 200ms higher pings than 202, 203 & 59 series and inconsistent speeds.

hmm..ya I guess having a tower around should help to0 unlike in my case.. :Pnever been able to connect to 120 series though...always on the 59 ones only..

That's lucky. In my office, we are connected to 120 series. Get 110ms pings in speedtest and that too on ADSL connection. At home, on 59 series ADSL, I get 40ms pings.
