Definitely looks like I am on a different port than yours :(. Any tips on how to convince MTNL to change my connection to the SOTL port? I don't live in South Bombay and would rather not take a trip to Prabhadevi :P

I really don't know what it stands for. But it is one of the system which handles ADSL connections.
MTNL has different gateways which handle ADSL.
1. SOTL 120.XX.XX IP series (The best series. People have reported only good browsing experience including me)
2. Alcatel (old) 59.XX.XX IP series (Timeout problem)
3. Alcatel (New) 182.56.XX IP series (Timeout problem)
4. Ericsson 59.XX.XX IP series (Unconfirmed whether there is a timeout problem or not) Might explain why some guys on 59.XX series do not have timeout problem.
The Alcatel Old and New are the ones with timeout problem. But heard some rumor that yesterday's downtime was to fix the Alcatel gateways. (Might not be true and may be a general fault causing downtime)
If you are on those troubled IP series, then keep an eye on timeouts and report here.
@enkay
You need a new line. Period.
Yes I do need a new line and ready to buy one. I am just trying to figure out what part needs to be replaced.
Btw, I am on the 120.x series.
Anyone able to solve the "Blank page" problem when you try to view your usage on http://crestelreg.mtnl.net.in:10080/jsp/Login.jsp ?
Meanwhile, I did have much lesser attentuation (37 compared to the old 49) with my DSL-2750U. Connection is also quite stable and seems snappy. But for some reason it takes long to sync the first time, and syncs only at G.dmt. Also works naked only (i.e. not behind a splitter).

Did you get a new modem?
DSL-2750U has a setting hidden deep under advanced options which allows you to change ADSL modulation to Annex M. You need to change that setting manually. Only select Annex M and leave other options unchecked. Then see if it is connecting and remaining stable. Otherwise revert to G.dmt
Usage page comes up blank too. Some website coding must have broken. But since our port speeds are in place, I am sure the data is getting counted and will be accounted for. The only day our data was not counting was on that maintenance day. You could download at full profile speed and VDSL guys on 20-30 Mbps profile must have had a blast.

Just borrowed a DSL 2750 for testing. Wanted to see if attenuation was any different.

Will try Annex M as you said, just by itself.
