Do you think that if all users begged MTNL, they would start BTCache (Torrent Caching)?
Also here are some of my pings:

Tracert to 8.8.8.8 and mtnlmumbai.in:

can anybody post a speedtest to any newyork server? i really need to see a test result. thanks

Well, today when I got home from school, I was getting 7.66Mbps! I guess the email I wrote on Sunday had some effect....
However Modem Downstream is 8192, which I think is preventing me from reaping the full benefits.

Speedtest:
Earlier it was 7.66, guess it fluctuates a bit.

Please note: Mbps and MBps are different. ISPs and Speedtest.net (by default) show speed in Megabits per second.
1 Byte = 8 Bits
The filesize of torrents and stuff is shown in MegaBytes or GigaBytes, not Bits.
Torrent Clients also show speeds in KiloBytes or MegaBytes per second, that's why you never see your downloads at the speed the ISP promises you.

On speedtest.net, click on settings, and choose to display speeds in Kilobytes. This will show you the speeds you can expect in torrents and the like

EDIT: the second speedtest was in Kbps, but I don't know why it's changing, but here's the link:

^ thankyou very much. do u guys have any idea if it is better for airtel?
mtnl's routing is absolutely trash. i have to use a VPN just to stream any videos n stuff.
i get 9.7 on vdsl to mumbai. to usa its barely hovering ard 3 just like u guys.

^ wtf lol. i am so not happy wid being unable to stream stuff. i can stream the same if i go via VPN.
