MTNL Broadband: Ping issues

For me the ping values keeps changing. Its sometime worse and most of the time its fine:happy:.

My ping values are perfectly fine now:thumb:.Never completely belive the first test from a server. Always take more than one.And see the difference in the results.

Hey there friends
how many of u r getting high ping rates? For me this is going on for the past 15 days. I'm on 1 Mbps unlimited. Speeds hover at around 120 to 130 Kbps which is great but the ping is too high. Feels like I'm using a 56K Modem.
Earlier socrates told there has been some breakdown of a under sea cable which has resulted in this shit but till ehen is this going to continue???
Pls some of u post ur speedtest ping rates over here particularly Mumbai.
My current ping is at 166ms which is shit.:@:@:@

166ms is bad. Which part of Mumbai are you in?

The undersea cable is fixed for some 2+ weeks now, but anyway wouldn't affect MTNL to HNS traffic. Try to ping another server in Singapore or something and see what you get.

These are from January and IMO are quite bad: https://broadband.forum/hayai-broadband/56632-hayai-broadband-speed-test-and-ping-test-results/6/#post371980

When I get back to India I'll do new ones.

There are also some tracerts to specific IP addresses in following posts, which give you a pretty good example: about 62ms to Singapore.

You can also see some examples of downloads on Youtube - YouTube - hayai broadband

hmm does latency depend on media like copper/optical ? if yes which one is better

I haven't really faced ping problems... I play warcraft every day on garena and I have never faced such problems. Since you guys say its a main cable fault then I gues I should have had problems too. Just wondering...

Which is faster? Light or electricity? The answer should be obvious ;)

In addition, you can't have a 70+km local loop with no repeaters using copper - the signal deteriorates way too quickly - ADSL, VDSL and Cable are only good up to 5, 1.5 and about 3km from the "base" respectively.

Not so with optical. For us, using fiber-optics removes the degradation variable almost completely, and we don't have to put repeaters in if we don't want to. We could, in theory, supply Kalyan or Dombivili from a PoP in Churchgate if we had the rights to lay the fiber that way (we don't though, because that would be insane and expensive).

This thread is old and no longer relevent.
