I got banned!
I will give you an example of not reading the rules. A relative rang me up one day & asked me if my net connection was working the conversation was something like this
SHE: is your net connection working.
ME: Yes
SHE: But mine is not working (Am I supposed to be responsible for that? I wonder)
ME: did you make any changes at your end.
SHE: No. after a lots of questions asked she finally admits that she changed her password for security. :wall:
ME: did you do it in both places.
SHE: WHAT DO YOU MEAN BOTH PLACES?
ME: (getting tired of this by now). I tell her that its got to be done on the server side thru MTNL Mumbai - Broadband Web Self Care then on the modem.
SHE: Nobody told me that. :readtherules:
ME: Didn’t you see the instructions on the site?
SHE: what site! :O
ME: I tell her.
SHE: BUT NOW I CAN’T CONNECT TO THE NET SO HOW CAN I DO THAT. CAN YOU HELP ME TO GET IT WORKING.
ME: I ask her which modem she has bought it’s also a D-Link modem but a much later model (I can’t remember which one). I ask her to ring up 1504 & ask them to reset the password from their side. ( I had to spend 5 minutes why it has to be done). I also tell her to see the instructions given in the user guide found on the site on how it’s to be done.
SHE: Grumbling that I had not helped her slams the phone down.
ME Sweating profusely from this exercise, felt like banging my head for trying to help such yokels. Maybe I should have been actually rude.
:iomg:
This has actually happened to me.
