@Satya97 You don't need to do anything on the ONT. On router, just add a static address 192.168.2.2, assign subnet, gateway empty, interface WAN and it should be enough.
It doesn't let me add a route w/o gateway. I even tried adding using Asus gateway ,it didn't work.
I tried that ssh thing now it works. Don't understand the issue and how this command fixed it.
If gateway is necessary then 192.168.2.1 will be the gateway, not the LAN of the router. You are trying to access WAN from the viewpoint of the router.
