ofcourse, not having peering with local providers is like having to drive to chandigarh via pakistan for lack of a direct road between delhi and chandigarh..weird scenarios do exist in India..another one is lack of access to copper loop of PSU's..i think it would have been much easier for u or any other ISP to launch if local loop was unbundled..in most countries with cheap high speed BB..local loop is open for access..infact in many countries it was like a pre-requisite for BB growth.

lol i once thought airtel was the best isp in india for gaming lmao.

It still is, until Hayai is here that is. I've tried everything, Dishnet (then Tata), Reliance, Sathyam, Hathway, BSNL. All of them have pathetic packet loss and choke. Airtel is the only one who gives sustained upload/download without fluctuating pings. Even now considering the Singapore pings, its still the best for gaming within India. Should get 70-80ms anywhere in the country to Airtel servers.

yeah, u guys should be happy about those pings,
I get 120ms to my city itself ( chennai ) and 900+ to European servers and 600 to USA servers :thumb:

This is also accompanied with massive Packet loss ... ping test fails to even measure it
Even more worse 1k for 384kbps Unlimited :ohyea:.. Now that's why i want Hayai in my city :P

If u are world of warcraft player i would suggest use wowtunnels.com Its a proxy service which reroutes the traffic give u shortest way to reach wow servers .I use them when Airtel has these problems. Works only on Offical blizzard server

Please have a look at this tracert . 59.176.119.167 -this is the static IP of a gaming server in Delhi. I live in faridabad (NCR) so my ping should be MUCH lower than this..

Even though these services are theoretically OK, given how unpredictable routing is over here you can't even say if you'll get a decent ping to the proxy server. Right now I am unable to access some American IPs. My IP is not even reachable from Singapore, the trace fails halfway (I asked someone from there to test my IP). He was on Singtel, but both of us are able to play on the same Starhub server. The STIX traceroute server is also unable to reach my IP (torch.mine.nu).

Airtel to singtel routing is screwed up, its going via paris & london ( linx ) to reach singapore singtel IP :)

Hey guys, this is really pissing off.

I've been using a 512 Kbps local-cable internet(franchised from PACENET) since months, never got much ping issues,
My ping to Delhi server on speedtest.net was always between 10-25 MS which I thought was VERY good and it also remained consistent,
I mainly use this connection to play a online multiplayer game(Call of duty : Modern warfare 2) on Playstation 3 , and it allowed me good connections to most Asian/UK servers with absolutely no lag unless the server was Australian or USA/Far Europe,

BUT since about a week my PING to speedtest.net servers has been horribly bad(especially the Delhi one ) --- from 10-20MS its now 70-200 MS , I am hardly able to play online on my PS3 anymore, even to the servers which are hosted in India itself, also the speeds have been very abnormal , example:

If I do a test now i'll get this : DL - 0.29 Mbps Unlimited- 0.4X Mbps(yeah upload is mostly fine)
after 10 mins if i do the test the DL speed will be 0.19 , or 0.49 , so yeah it keeps fluctuating and in no way lets me play online on my PS3.

This is really pissing me off guys, I called up the local provider and he said he can't do anything about the ping rates , just wanted to know if I should stick with this connection because I've never had problems before with it regarding my online gaming, also because i was getting VERY VERY good ping rates(10-20ms MAX for delhi speedtest.net) before this happened, even better than my friends who have 4 Mbps Airtel(1799) etc.

:(

UPDATE : There was a long maintenance for PaceNet today and its been fixed :D
I'm getting my old pings back, IMO Pacenet is
better than Airtel for online gaming, I get better games on my PS3 than my friends who use 4MBps Airtel.

Look at the ping now :-

Look at the Ping to USA (Los Angeles, California) now:-

This is awesome!

Your pings are almost making me cry. I feel for you.

70-80ms is "ok", but really... should get less than that even. For me that's Tbilisi to Paris at the moment - I know Frankfurt is at least a 4,500km drive from here, and Paris must be about another 600-1,000km from there (I've not driven from Frankfurt to Paris so I don't know exactly), whereas, for example, Mumbai-Chennai is 20% of the distance and thus should be ~20% of the time. Theoretically.
