Poor Netflix performance on BSNL Bharat Fiber Broadband

@socrates Loaded latency means when you are sending/receiving data and latency test is done when data is being transmitted.
Loaded latency should be considered important as it shows resilence of the network.
Unloaded means just the ping packets are sent and received.
Usually,Loaded latency should be more than
unloaded latency.But difference on a ftth connection should be negligible and within 29 ms at max.
For 4g connection,many factors affect latency,like SINR,data load,backhaul among others.
For ftth,contention ratio and usage peaks usually leads to bad ping but routing is the major cause {i am talking to you BSNL}

Since fast.com netflix test server is based in Seattle, it makes little sense to test on it. Unless there is a way to test netflix peering on their Indian server.

What? You do know Netflix does have local servers and caches, right?

Am I dreaming? BSNL and Sub 10ms latency.. Did they install OC or is it just the peering at DE CIX mumbai? ps I am using 50mbps plan

edit - They have OCA installed- > ipv4-c001-blr001-bsnl-isp.1.oca.nflxvideo.net

I think BSNL users connect to DE CIX Mumbai and OCA on Bangalore. So Netflix should have no performance issues

Yeah i am also getting 24 and 27 ms latnecies in fast.com which is very good as it is from kerala.

@vignesh_venkatesan Yeah thats true but sometimes the result are saying as open connect ,but most of the time it is saying as bangalore mumbai and all. Why is it different in many times?

Maybe they have some sort of load sharing.

@Dark_Nate Probably,they may be testing ping to three servers in the region to show you best ping and do speed test from same to show you best case of loaded latency with minimun external interference.
As far as I remember from earlier days,it used to have only one server.

My internet speed not good from the evening. Upload getting full speed and download only 30Mbps. I don't know why...

No such issues for me, I still get the 40 Mbps capped speed always over IPv4 instead of 50 Mbps.
