RAM and HDD prices are jumping (2025)

Nothing is consumer friendly anyways, upgradable hardware would destroy their business model. Apple seems to be the only giant which develops a balance of hardware and polished software which remains usable for the longest time.

For TVs I have decided to buy the latest firestick when the current ones are phased out or no longer support latest video/HDR formats. Works out cheaper in that way. I personally don't like ads popping in every corner with the FireTV OS but it's not that bad. Always wanted to get the Apple TV 4K, should have bought it when it was available for cheap at 14k. Now the same model costs 25k.

i had to order an external dvd drive few days ago to read a mri report that came on a dvd (of course, they still don't give pen drives). and by god it was frustrating to copy the content of the dvd to my computer. it was literally coping at dialup speeds.

found a screenshot from the day lol.

i suppose it is much faster than dialup lol.

Are you sure there's nothing wrong with the drive or the cable? Copying from optical media is slower than anything flash based, but I remember seeing faster access speeds than that on my old external DVD drive (which utilizes USB 2.0 btw).

so apparently the reason why HDD prices are also climbing is

people saw SSDs become super expensive and decided to go for HDD builds and before this criris HDDs were pretty cheap as you could easily get 10TB HDD for 21,000Rs. So due to the sudden rise in HDD sales, every retailer decided to increase the price.
