1. What are the new RBI guidelines?
As per the new RBI guidelines, merchants cannot store the customer’s card data beginning 1st January 2022. This means that, customers will have to enter card details every time they want to do a transaction via card.
2. How can I avoid entering card details every time?
To avoid entering card details every time, customers can provide consent to Amazon Pay to ‘tokenise’ their cards. In tokenisation, Amazon Pay will ask the card network to encrypt their card details with additional factor authentication. Amazon Pay will receive these encrypted details so that customers can save that card for future transactions.
3. What all card networks are supported for tokenisation?
Right now, only the cards powered by VISA and Mastercard can be tokenised. We are working closely with other card networks to bring this facility for everyone soon. We will send you timely updates regarding the same.
4. What will happen to my previously added cards?
Before 1st January 2022, you can give your consent to tokenise your cards powered by VISA and Mastercard. This will ensure that you continue to enjoy seamless payments as before. If you don’t give consent, after 1st January 2022, your card details will be removed and you will have to enter card details every time you do a card transaction. However, for your convenience, we will also offer you the option to give consent and save the card for future transactions.
