Reliance Big TV DTH: Big TV Logo

The formats - wide screen and standard - are decided by the transmitted signal; selection by user is a carry over from good old days of cinemascope vs 35 mm. In my RCA tv, I can change the display format, but it is lost when I change the channel.

thats bcause u need to press the confirm button,it will now say its in 16:9mode but the aspect ratio will continue to be in 4:3.

Hi Sudhir, is there change in the Logo size or transparency level? Is it still causing visiual irritability?

Ok I have had enough of the stupid in your face Big TV logo.. and I had enough of useless talk with the most useless customer support at Big TV. So I just sent an email to them.. I don't know if others detest it as much as I do but until they fix it I would request others to refrain from going ahead and purchasing BigTV. Of course there are other issues too like putting me in the wrong package or wrong regional pack but this they refuse to understand..

Dear Mr Ambani,
I recently subscribed to Big TV. You have no control over the
content of each channel. Yet you force a big BIg TV logo on each
channel. You don't know what content is being shown in every channel
in that area. I am paying you to watch the channels and you force me
to watch your ridiculous logo. Your customer care has obstinately
refused to take care of this issue. I try not to get angry with them.
They talk to me as if this logo is automatic and god created and so
cannot be removed from the screen.

Sir, I request you to kindly fix this asap. We are losing patience
with the attitude of your big tv customer care towards this issue. It
sounds like the orders were given from higher ups to force this logo
down our throats. How would you feel if your computer maker or your
ISP forced his logo on the screen whenever you use your computer?

I think it is still there just as it always was. I haven't been watching tv for a couple of days now. I am thinking it was a mistake and Big TV folks just don't have the engineering skills to fix it. It looks like it is something they need to fix in the set top box software( someone mentioned in this thread ). And very likely that they don't have the technical skills to do that update for everyone.There is also the VC number which keeps getting flashed now and then. I don't see any good reason for it to be flashed the way it is done. But that I think is less due to technical incompetence but rather due to managerial paranoia. May be someone could explain why those numbers need to be flashed on your screen and in the middle and not some corner.

The logo irritates but the only workaround the customers have right now is to press the up/down arrow key and bring up the mini guide and now the logo vanishes. This will atleast help us to view the football match score. Looks like the software fellas do not know to reduce the transparency level of that widget. They can contact me for help if required.

we have to talk about that logo thing coz we are not paying for watch logo of big tv ...big tv can make logo on th elower side ..with transparent in nature...like white in colour....i dont knw ...nobody have problem with this logo...lets get togetther..n figure out solution for logo thing

we have to find some tricks ..we have to buy new mpeg4 box...or we need to change software of that box..or we need to remove the logo from software....or we have to get together to go to consumer court ..that we are not paying for logo we are paying for channels

Are we technically sound enough to change the software in STB??? I guess, its not "client based" but "server based" software and only be changed when someone changes from their office and it changes globally (and not individually). So i doubt about changing their software in our STB.2nd thing - consumer courts are for faulty product complaints or non-services. Their STB (product) is working fine and their services (showing channels) are running fine as well. So complaints cannot be made for the features (or non-features) they provide us. Our laws are good and bad for both consumers and companies. They will only tell court "do we have written anywhere in our terms or disclousers that we will keep this much (of big or small) logo? when we buy big tv (or any dth) we sign a form and that contains all such terms and they do not mention any terms that we signed about logo size so our courts cannot do anything about it.What we (consumers) can only do - (100 people) CALL CC 10 times a day (100 x 10 = 1000 calls a day) for logo size. That may make some difference.
