Did anyone with non-5g enabled sim kyc location but living in a 5g enabled location got the invite?

What's a kyc location? Yes I got the invite late last week in fact they had automatically shifted me to 5G on 2 connections even before the 'invite' showed up.

I'm getting 5G signal at my home, but the signal is too week, only 2bars, but the speed is dam good

@Chip sim kyc location is the location you provided them as proof of address for the registration of the sim

you can check yours under profile section in myjio app

the proof of address which i gave for the registration doesn't have 5g-enabled but now i am staying in bengaluru with all the criteria fulfilled and still havent got 5g invite

so i was a bit skeptical about this particular location thing

The only way it affects invite is if the area has 5G coverage. Not all areas do and honestly speaking I am now so underwhelmed by all the hoopla about 5G and the mediocre speeds + call drops I experience that I have shifted back to LTE. 5G works best when there are no tall buildings or obstructions around and where I live there are more than I care to remember. I'd rather have a working connection that a damned 5G so called speedy one that goes no where.

i know my area has 5g coverage since my friend with Oppo reno 8 got 5g invite and it stay on 5g all the time and also a big cell tower is just 2-4 building away from me and i can definitely say that my area has a good 5g coverage since i live in a 4 storey building and i can see cell towers every 10-15 building apart even has small cell towers installed on building terraces

now the only reasonable thing i can think of not getting 5g is the kyc location thing

What make and model is your handset? Many handsets require an update from the mfr before 5G was enabled. I don't think KYC ie home city has anything to do with it. For e.g my wife's OP9 doesn't have 5G while my iPhone does.

iPhone 13 with ios 16.3

i have been on beta since 16.1 and opted for the 5g invite banner many times since it appeared but still i haven't got anything

They're rolling it out in batches I think. No big bang approach here. Don't ask me why. I saw that banner umpteen times since Oct and my connection was automatically upgraded few days back. Strangely I now see that dumb invite.
