I think there was a thread started on this topic in the last week or 10 days. Let's move the discussion there.
The only thing I would say is that IMHO hybrids / electric cars have not been shown to be as environmentally friendly as one guesses common-sensically. After all the manufacturing of batteries is a really horrible polluting process. And electricity is still majorly dependent on coal. So all it is, is that the pollution isn't coming from your car directly, so the average consumer feels like he/she is doing a great thing, but in the absence of adequate studies we don't really know if this is really true.
