Rumored Reliance Jio Fiber Broadband Plans

We dont have any exclusive agreement with anyone, I agree that jio or airtel is not coming to our society and that may be one reason but then why jio invested so much since we are the only building on that road which is like dead end. Ours is huge society and jio is known for disruptive service, it will not take much time for me to disconnect act account and opt for jio.

Let's see how it goes. Right now act is acting funny so was eagerly waiting for jio but it seems wait is going to be little longer.
No business would risk themselves if you keep ACT or Excitel active.

You need to talk to the reps of Jio and they would ask you to drop them and choose Jio.

Jio wouldn't give a thought to your society if you are having Excitel or ACT.

In short, You are no different then whole non-society apartments or houses. You are considered as same as non-society since they have competition. Jio has explicitly mentioned that they are targeting societies first (who are willing to sign them exclusively as a contract for whole society).

And yes @pothi, Implementation of Jio Fiber is pretty bad and It will take longer.

I wouldn't be surprised if the commercial launch is postponed until the second half of 2019.

Most likely by Feb-Mar as per the statement from the wiring guy who was doing the splicing for joining in the DP's. Per him, there are multiple things Jio is bringing to the table from Public Wifi, Society/Locality Security Cams to Home Projectors for the TV cable service which all run through the same fibre. The last one was an interesting fact and on being asked why a Projector and why not a TV box, the guy replied that he has seen demonstration of three different projectors (32inch, 55inch and 75inch) and prices range from 6k-18. On further being probed that for the projector, one would need a clean and white wall or a screen and this won't be feasible in houses. He reiterated that the Installation team would supply Glass panels of the respective size that would be used to beam projection and it would be a one time fixed installation and this was being done to make it easier/affordable for people to see HD content on bigger screens who have traditional TV's.

Not sure how correct his narration was but to some extent, things might eventually turn out to be true.

If your services are good with Excitel, BSNL and ACT? Why do you care about Jio?

If I have a fine services of Excitel or ACT in my area. I wouldn't wait for the Jio. (The only reason I am waiting for Jio myself is because my area's Excitel is one of the worst).

So, I would suggest you one thing: Keep yourself satisfied with them and don't worry about Jio. Because without exclusive deal, they aren't going to care about the apartments you have. You will be treated the same way as we are (individual apartments/houses).

I would tell you one thing for sure, It's good to see such advancements but the real thing Jio needs is stop delaying the things and start doing it.

Secondly, wherever their Jio Broadband is available, they have shittiest Routing. Airtel's ADSL has better routing than Jio's Fiber Network. Their routing and ping is worst for now.

People get 50ms ping on their FTTH connection of Jio.

We had very bad experience of giving exclusive agreement to airtel in my previous apartment.

Sorry for going off-topic. But, it helps to understand what happens when we have exclusive agreement with a single ISP. It makes sense *not* to have exclusive agreement with a single ISP, due to multiple reasons. But, I wonder what kind of issues did you have when you had exclusive agreement previously (with Airtel in the previous apartment)?

just stumbled here ! i am quite amazed to see how people are being carried away by jio giga fiber and are reporting any cables found near them. for the first time i have seen cables to be so popular . i wonder what would be the use of gigabit internet in indian towns !
Movie downloading + game downloading :D:D(applicable to whole of world not just india):sneaky::sneaky: .

P.S. DONT TAKE MY SARCASAM AS REAL THING THESE ARE JUT MY VIEWS NOTHING ELSE .

Right now act and excitel both goes dead slow during 6pm to 11pm, frequent outages.

When we had airtel as our exclusive ISP, they were playing monopoly in terms of charges and offering to us while beam was giving faster connection in less money so we had to wait exclusive term to be over.

Now we are inclined towards jio for the same reason, better offering from them compared to these ones.
Don't expect rock solid services since their plan of becoming the ISP is just turned into the contractor. It's going to be as same as Excitel if they start partnering up with the LCO and buy Hathway.

I will again suggest, talk to Airtel and give them strict guidelines of good services else you will take strict action against them.

A company might not be afraid of 1 connection, But if 600 connections goes down again? and 600 complaints to consumerforum are made? Company will be in a trouble.

P.S.: It's a thought and not an advice. Do your own research and take decision of your own.

I think don't talk to the sales guy, talk to his supervisor or something who has nice communication skills and understanding of the needs.

Sale's Guys are the least understanding creature no matter if it's Tech or Banking Services. Their only job is to say lies to grab your neck.

So talk to the right and responsible guy.

I was also amazed that both are having issue during that time, I had act and excitel both for one month and experienced/escalated the issue but as per them it was fine. Normal speed test were giving normal speed but very high latency. Online streaming was very pathetic, I have stopped dth and completely on online streaming via Amazon prime, Netflix and jio tv (sideloaded on fire tv stick ) so sometimes it was almost impossible to watch anything. However, streaming worked fine when I used hotspot features using jio. That's one of the reason why I feel that jio might give good service.

Can you please explain how to side load Jio TV? Will it work if we are using non Jio wifi connection?
