For the files, is there any other alternative? I don't really wanna store huge amount of data on the cloud.Well actually files can be copy pasted too manually. Mainly I need an app to back up 3rd party apps so that I don't have to re-install them and set them up if this bootloop thing occurs again. And can SMS Backup take the backup on my PC?

there are going to be apps for everything. i am suggesting ways to have it backed up with minimal effort. i would really suggest relying on Dropbox for photos/videos and google drive/dropbox for files. you do not have to keep them in the cloud. i sync dropbox to my computer and move the files to my primary photos/videos folders emptying dropbox. for third party apps not available on google play store. i guess you would need something like titanium backup etc which would require a rooted phone.astro probably has a free/paid version that offer phone backup solution. there are going to be tons of other apps as well. either start a new thread or wait for folks to discover your query here.

1GB on mobile or 1GB at home? coz you can always set these apps to backup only on wi-fi. if you are short on bandwidth at home and want to sync with computer... well what better way than to copy paste all the folders from the phone to your computer once a week? :|

1GB on mobile. Home connection is 400GB/2 months. But copy pasting won't back up the apps, or will it?BTW how do you sync your Fb contacts? And which keyboard would you suggest, I'm not really a fan of the stock keyboard.

just set Dropbox to sync on wifi connections and it should be fine. almost all syncing apps should have such an option. as i said google play store apps are already saved in your account. third party apps would most likely requiring rooting. i do not have fb app installed on my phone. i don't care about my fb friends. i use swiftkey though a lot of people prefer swype. depends upon your choice.

i am not really sure how to upload photos from the camera roll to picasa in original resolution. google does not seem to provide an automated solution for this. maybe i am missing something.Dropbox is perfect for the photos and videos that you shoot from the phone. they are backed up on the cloud. and you can then sync them back to your phone. no wires required. fully automated solution. even google drive for android does not have this feature.

To sync your Facebook contacts ; install the official fb app. Go to Settings, under Accounts select your Facebook account and check contacts ;)
