from what i understand, Apple do have the remote wipe capability on all iOS devices.

No ..
They can kill any application downloaded from appstore .. but they can't wipe the device itself

iCloud offers services to Play Sound to an iDevice, Lost Mode (not explored) and Erase Phone. If Erase Phone option is used, it will erase the phone and it can not be located. If the device is found after erasing, data can be restored from iCloud.

No .. Still Apple can't wipe it .. User can wipe but tht for tht also one need to install some particular software installed on ur phone.. and phone must be connected to net at tht time ..

i am sure Apple has the capability to remotely wipe ios devices (at least that have not been jailbroken). or maybe they retain this abiliity only on prototype devices? this is what they do when they notice a prototype device has been stolen. they are very much likely to have a backdoor to remotely kill the device too.lol as the article above mentions that you can remote wipe your own device from your Find My iPhone dashboard. which means apple has the tech to remotely wipe the phone right?
