You had a 5k worth coupon but didn't use it because you didn't want to wait for couple of weeks? Damn .. yo have reeeeeally deep pockets.

Nah. not really. Its a long story.

More of speculation I guess. I wonder how nexus with 512 and Gnex with 1 GB are enough for JB and not GS3Besides I dont think there are any other android phones lined up that are going to have 2gb RAM. LG was planning one. Not to mention a number of high end phones including razr HD, maxx and HOX that came out this year. What do you think is going to happen to them?

3 payments of 3333.33 for a product worth 10K (with or without the EMI), without ANY other additional charge means an interest free EMI. There is no myth here.

its a trap ,by giving free emi, they are luring the customers to get a taste of their service so that after some time they would come back in the time of need and will buy something and pay interest at a later stage.

just like in british raj , they 1st gave tea free of cost by stopping the commuters , and when the ppl got addicted to it , they started charging (selling) for a price.

some ppl have habit of having tea upto 10 times a day because its addictive, same with emi, ppl get easy credit so they think they must buy the stuff and live a luxurious life now, will pay later in emi's.

also as you said because of emi's ppl buy stuff they otherwise couldn't think of buying on down payment , its a win -win situation for manufacturer also,

all of this leads to the dangerous habit of over spending without knowing easily , spending more than you can afford , its a 'myth' in that sense. makes you vulnerable incase any unknown sudden emergency situation in life.

you are forgetting the massive junk that samsung has loaded on their S3 platform. this was the same reason they gave on why Galaxy s did not get the ics update but nexus s did. s3 was rumored to be shipped with 2GB RAM in some international markets. not sure if it is true. but the kind of extra software that samsung seems to be running in the background on the s3 would probably mean that the system requirements are going to be higher.

On the "Interest free" thing.....When u give me the EMI amounts & the outright payment amount, it will always be the same. Coz if the seller is claiming an "Interest free EMI", then he will have to show it to u. So when u want to compare, give the EMIs, and an equivalent price from a small retailer for outright payment. Just as Mascot said he got it for Rs.3,000 more, well thats ur interest cost buddy! They will term it as they like. But in effect, thats ur interest cost. Or put other way, they recover such excess amount from u, that they dont need to recover the interest component. And coming to the 11,000 and odd instalment, i guess i will be able to find out this phone for even less than 35k then at my local vendor. This is a good hint at that. And lastly, as Toocool mentioned, some might be genuine cases, but then its just for luring u. They just want u to get a habit of EMIs. Once u r in, u will use EMIs even if theres more & more interest.Take the simple example of Credit cards - They give u "Free credit". But that is recovered from the vendor where ur card is used. The vendor, in order to promote his sales, is not passing on that cost to u right now. And even if u accidentally breach the due date, u r charged ridiculous amounts of interest & penalties and all.

i dont know how i missed the 3k difference thingy, @IM , out of competition the amount which you should have saved by searching a better deal(2-3 k less) is actually the interest paid by you, i have seen mostly when there is some kind of scheme or discount then vendor gives that discount only on mrp and not at normal discounted price, they would not give you discount of 3k and interest free emi both at the same time, you will have to choose 1 thing.

@IM, Dont pull your hair after this one, seems it'l shipping to India too in a couple of weeks, without price upgrades!

Samsung Galaxy S III getting a last minute RAM upgrade to muscle up Jelly Bean

I know it would be disgusting to see a 2 GB RAM model of SGS3 model in India but few countries are already having it. Also in some countries Quad Processor is not delivered and SGS3 has been supplied with dual Core. :(

its a trap ,by giving free emi, they are luring the customers to get a taste of their service so that after some time they would come back in the time of need and will buy something and pay interest at a later stage.

Yes, You are right dost. Most of the time I have sufficient money to buy the product , still I go for EMI most of the time. But I make sure than I didn't pay any Interest on EMI and also processing fee doesn't exceed 1000 even for the costliest product.

When I was purchasing LED a year back, there was no good EMI offer. Both HDFC and ICICI were charging 4-5 % interest . So I opted for Future Finance and I didn't paid a single paisa extra.

When I asked them how came they not charge anything extra, they told me that Future finance is E-Zone inhouse finance company (I bought LED from E-Zone). So, its just for promotion and not to earn anything out of this.

Like wise when I purchased N8, price was Rs 24999 everywhere . But I purchased it from Croma by paying Rs 500 as processing fee and nothing extra.

This Particular handset is in high demand and no retailer is ready to downgrade the price. Everyone wants to encash the demand and supply benefit.

gadgetcrazy gt it in Rs 3000 less bcoz he purchased it online. He paid the money to vendor and waited for 1 week. While in Retail Stores I don't have to wait a single minute after purchasing.

Also there is 10% discount on ng pay but that 10 % is a cash back at later stage. So , such discounts are always complicated.

I would have gt that of I would have opted Online Stores but I avoid online stores for high end purchases. But now even Online Stores are not giving much discounts on SGS3.

@IndianMascot, Dude, Awesome Phone, Where did you purchase the phone from in Mumbai and at what price, can you tell, cause even I am looking forward of purchasing this beast phone.:D
