Searching for ISP - Perungudi, Chennai

I will be relocating to Perungudi in a couple of months' time and I am already researching potential broadband service providers.
I have been with BSNL all these yrs and having spoken to their marketing manager, I am not sure if BSNL will continue to be my ISP at my new home. The gentleman I'd spoken to didn't seem too promising about BSNL's connectivity (and BB service) - not sure if he was being genuine or plain lazy! But he wasn't the only one...
The advantage I have had with BSNL all these yrs is that the nodal office is a stone's throw from my current residence and any complaint has been attended to in no time.
I am now considering other ISPs.
» Airtel - experience from folks in the extended family and friends (both central Chennai and places like Velachery) say that service is appalling; price is high; speeds just about enough...
» Tikona/YOU - no one I know of that uses their service, but forum comments do not make for an encouraging read!
» Reliance - Their plans seem very attractive!!! But I do not know anyone who has availed Reliance.
» Sify/Tata - Not too tempted with their plans on offer.
Any advice/suggestion would be of immense help. Please let me know your opinion.

PS: Just so you know, I am a heavy internet user; currently on BSNL's 4MBps plan. My monthly budget will be around INR 1500.
 
BSNL should be available at Perungudi if you want to stick with it.
Airtel is expensive but reliable & I have had almost no problems with it. Unfortunately, with ISPs, it's either a hit or a miss.

The comedy with BSNL - the guys I spoke to (at BSNL's main exchange) ere decidedly unsure about the extent of BSNL's coverage (ridiculous!) and were saying that they could not guarantee speeds. Fiber is ruled out, too... Can't believe why they'd sound so disinterested. I think I'll approach BSNL's Perungudi branch one of these days.
Airtel - yes, I see what u mean. There has to be a reason why the folks (referred to in my earlier post) still stick with AirTel despite their complaints...
Re others: sigh! Wish there was some semblance of hits rather than misses. :)
 
I have recently moved to Perungudi (Kamaraj Nagar). I see that this post is a couple of years old, not sure if the situation has improved. I am unable to find any reliable broadband service providers in this locality. Any pointers will be appreciated.
 
I too live in Perungudi, I am a BSNL user and their service is decent. Airtel is available but it is little costly and Tikona i can't comment about their service much. Raaj Nett, a new but not good fiber network is available.
 
Thanks Jason, got very bad reviews for Raaj Nett. Contacted Airtel but they are yet to get back, they said they would do the discovery for the area and get back. Just the other day someone dropped details on Tikona but now sure how their service is. Do you have any contacts to get BSNL?
