everything should technically work today. vintage software apps might not work. some hardware might not work. i had a wifi card on my desktop which never got 64bit drivers.

@raj..yes, i am thinking of installing 64 bit now.....what are the downsides???
Im still using 32 bit with Dual core & 2 GB RAM...he he..need to upgrade soon.

@chromy are u using 64 bit???

If you are going for more than 4 gb of ram, then only 64 bit makes sense

^no, i will use 4gb for now.......should i not install 64bit then???

64 bit is only for Addressing the physical Capacity of the Ram beyond 4 Gb.if you install 64 bit,it will give full 4 gb, only 500 mb more than the maximum 3.5 GB ram in 32 bit.

@toocool:
it is better to install 64bit o, because 32bit os limits ur internal memory to 4 gb. ie if u have a 4gb ram and 1gb videocard, the 32bit os will only use 3gb of ur ram and 1gb of videoram .

^^^32 bit only limits the System Ram not the cumulative total of Graphics card Ram + system Ram.My System has 4 Gb system Ram + 1 Gb Graphics card MemorySystem Ram shows 3.5 GB and Graphics Memory is Left Untouched
