Ok so i had words with airtel north head again and he told me that previously static ip was configured by local backend team but now the process is centralised and team in delhi handles the requests of north region. They will bind the ip with my account. Previously anyone can use static ip anywhere thats what they said. Now that security patch is done.

i am getting feeling that they have fixed the hack @Chip @albonycal on delhi gateway haha.

can anyone one from delhi static ip gateway confirm if that thing is working ?

@_Dexter i wanna run cctv ip cameras at my home and also static ip provides me stable ping and speed. With cg-nat gateway i was getting inconsistent ping of 20-25 ms to google dns and 20 ms to cloudflare.

with static ip its 10ms to google and similar on cloudflare.

gigabit is just for testing. I don’t need it but want to try it again.

So turns out my static IP request was closed without any intimation from the engineer(was assigned yesterday). There's something wrong at Airtel's end and tbh I don't have the time and energy to argue with CC or ask for any clarification. I think they are simply unable to provide static IP , whatever might be the reason. I'd consider this as a failed experiment 😛.

@Rickysin the order was created yesterday in the Airtel Thanks App and engineer was assigned. Today morning I received a message saying my request was closed. I don't understand how can they close a request without the Happy Code.

Okay. hear me out.
They create a task for static IP allocation which is an internal thing and you won't be able to see it. it takes around 2-3 days. Sometimes more depends upon the NOC team.
Now. Coming back to the SR which is raised when you ask for static IP. If you see that is for new installation. static IP or moving a user to the 1g connection, this SR is created. The assigned time for this would be the nearest time slot. But obviously, as the IP is not ready, the technician won't be able to configure it. So they close it or postpone it.
hence, Just be in touch with your local technician to whom the ticket was assigned. The contact details are there in the SMS. Ask him to send the IP details when it's ready. Now the local technicians themselves can see the IP and other details. And you can config it by yourself if you are on a bridge or have an unlocked ONT. I hope this clears up a lot of things here.
