Going by the reviews at MS with a pathetic 11% recommendation SCB is also as any other bank. I don't think their branch network is as strong as others.

yeah i think standard chartered doesnt have a good branch network.i think hdfc is good. no personal experience though.

hdfc... i have had terrible experiences with them.as for mouthshut. i don't trust them.

HDFC (along with another i cannot remember atm) was good only if you were in the shares market.

Here is a major annoyance dealing with Standard Chartered in India The online banking service does not give you access to the complete banking statement. You just get the access to the transactions in the last 90 days. Can you believe it! The company goes on to charge 150 rupees to send you hard copies of bank statements if you want from 90 days ago. The fees is Rs. 100 for statements from the last 90 days. This is probably the biggest fcuk up in dealing with Standard Chartered. Otherwise my experience has been pretty peaceful.

The company says that they cannot provide online access to older statements due to system constraint. Pretty unbelievable. ICICI would have at least 100 times more customers in their records. And yet they are able to provide me my entire transaction history online. I guess Standard Chartered India web developers are not very smart at what they do. Or the company just pretends to be helpless in this particular situation.

that was my second case. the company pretending to be helpless. they did send me pdf files with my statements when i complained through email. but they are probably not going to do it again :)i guess i would hunt for a new bank once again.

HDFC and Kotak Mahindra are the best banks in India atm.
