Hello,

I need to buy new AC for 190 sqft room top floor (sun directly hits the roof). So I know I need at least 2 Ton, but confusion is many people says that few brands 1.5 Ton AC's cooling is equivalent to 2 Ton in the other. So which brand I need and what tonnage?

A bit history on why I want new AC.
My first AC was 1.5 ton Voltas non inverter, It ran good the first year but cooling reduced from next year.
Many technicians have visited only to tell me that my AC is running perfectly. God knows what happened. But it won't chill the room as it used to do before and the compressor continues to run and room temp goes down but very slow. After so many diagnostics I came to a conclusion that because the unit was not vacuumed at install time, it's cooling efficiency was reduced but all technicians deny this fact. But I don't want to waste anymore time and money on this, I would rather buy new. My current AC already 5 years old now but this problem started happening since 2020, I bought it in 2019. In a nutshell I want to avoid this voltas brand all together.

Back to where we were, this post is about which brand's AC is must buy and what tonnage do I need 1.5 or 2 and it's cooling capacity, I want non inverter only.

Regards!

bought a new samsung inverter AC 1.5 ton and starting from day 1 it emits foul smell when it reaches the temperature that i set. lets say i set 28 C temp and when AC reaches that temperature within 5 to 10 mins then it slows down the compressor and indoor unit starts emitting foul smell. Called engineer visit and he came and cleaned the indoor unit but still same.

anyone else facing this issue ? AC is 1 week old :)

edit: if AC is set to lower temp like 20 or 22 C then it does not emit smell as compressor remains on all the time.

Looks like the condensation water is not draining properly and is staying in the Indoor Unit drain pan and causing a mould build up. If this continues, you will have to get the drain pipe checked for any clogs from debris during installation.

well samsung engineer are not really helpful in my case, they are blaming samsung for manufacturing issue for foul smell. which i believe is not true. Field engineers don't really want to work if issue is big one. All they know is that if diagnosis mode runs 100% without any error code then AC is working fine.

I will have to write an email to samsung higher officers so that it can be escalated.

It's necessary to ensure your AC gives proper cooling. It's time consuming process hence the new lads skip it to cover maximum installation setups in a day.

It's basically sucking out all the impurities present within the system, the pipes before starting your AC for the first time. So that only and only refrigerant flows within the system and nothing else.
