nobody came to my house today .. although the lineman promised he would send somebody more technically gifted today. i called up 1504 a few times, they made me change the dns a few times and delete the files in temp folder a few times and made me restart the modem a couple of zillion times.
i sent an email to [email protected] which is the email of GM(BB) Sh. H.P.Gupta at kidwai bhawan according to this page on MTNL's site.
did anyone ever recieve a response from mtnl via email??

try singapore server for best results at speedtest.net

Singapore servers are weird. They showed my speed as 400 kbps but I downloaded files via limewire at 800 kbps to 1 mbps.

This is why I don't like these speed test sites. I am having absolutely no speed problems.
Surfing speed --> amazingly fast
Download speeds
a) HTTP - 220-230 KBps (constant from fast servers)
b) Torrent - 200-210 KBps (well seeded torrents)

Another thing that I've noticed is that the ping is highly variable, and is much better for Internet Explorer than Opera. The earlier tests were taken using Opera and this one using IE.
