TATA Sky in 40'' LCD TV

dude learn to read and comprehend properly..i know exactly what spreading mis-information means..i have clearly mentioned everywhere that its only my opinion based on my perceptions ...I have stated that officially MPEG 4 is "considered" better that MPEG 2..









U are talking technology and i am also talking technology but technology with a human perspective..on a 40/42 inch plasma/LCD TV iam sure a lot of people here would not find much difference between an MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 video at higher bitrate in terms of video quality though file size of MPEG 4 will be less..this is contrary to the official stated position..which is why it was stated here ..that also with a disclaimer


Ok what ever!!!! We should not start some thing out of the box, but believe me, you are watching higher bitrate videos of MPEG-2 and not so higher bitrate videos of MPEG-4. As time will pass by, you will become aware of MPEG-4 (and coming up next MPEG-7) without any special efforts.

MPEG7 no need. Then they will tell MPEG7 won't deliver anything better than MPEG2 and so on.

40" LCD :wall: TS picture looks blurred even on 32".Lot of pixeleration too.

If seen with proper eyes it will look pixelated even in 21" screen.

Hello everyone,

I am planning to buy a Sony KLV-40V550A/B(Full HD, Bravia 3) LCD Tv with Tata Sky connection.
I am concerned about the quality of tatasky video on a big 40'' television.
I have read that the quality is a bit bad. how bad is it? Any work around to make it better. I dont want to spend more money on any additional hardware.
Any thoughts? Please post pictures if any.

I have in my bedroom Sony bravia 40' LCD KDL40V510, I don't get any pixels on 480i feed. In my living room I have Samsung 55" led UN55B7000WFXZA. Over 40" you will notice big difference on SD channels. But some of the channels are carrying very poor quality videos on Indian channels, those channels you may have bad picture quality. These reviews are based on receiving Indian channels through USA-Canadian service providers. Now if you talk about MPEG4 feed, those are all HD channels Canadians are HD 720p (MPEG4) and Americans are HD 1080i (MPEG4) and 1088i (MPEG4). All the HDs are great in pic. But none of the Indian channel has MPEG4 video, only 480i. Sony LCD TVs are not very good pic quality than Samsung LCDs, dark areas in pic are very-very dark on LCD.

many of the big electronic stores selling tvs have Tata Sky for demo. One can check picture quality on any size tv available in the shop. One can check the quality of other dth operators as well. Both tv and dth can be evaluated at the same time.

Yes, you are right. Its different in USA and CANADA most of the SD channels look good on a 40'' or less television but indian channels(mpeg2 and mpeg4 with no quality) on a big TV would really suck. I live in USA and i have seen SD and HD channel on a 60'' TV.SD is not bad but have pixelation and HD is awesome. Indian television network dont use high Tech equiments to make the video quality better. They still use the same old technology. This could be one reason.

I can give you Technical Solution Also

But u should be ready to put some money on it... leasehelp:
I have tried it successfully in my home and the picture quality is awsome in this method....

You need to purchase a VIDEO UPSCALER...This available with Yamaha, Denon AV Receivers...
Now days many AV receivers are having this feature...

A VIDEO UPSCALER will take a normal SD signal and will convert it into HD. My Denon Receiver converts upto 1080p. This signal is automatically converted to HDMI which you can connect to LCD screen.. But these AV receivers cost you around 35,000Rs...

Another solution is purchase a China made VIDEO UPSCALERS... u can get it for 8000 or so... but there is no separate VIDEO scalers in branded companies...

In separate video upscalers you will find sometimes lip sync problems... which u wont find in AV receivers...

But this is a very good solution and u can watch a normal SD in HD.. i am daily watching crystal clear picture with this method...:thumb:

Even I bought after seeing the dth demos in the TV shop. Tatasky simply superb quality wise.

lol. Tata Sky gives higher commission for selling its dth than others. So naturally shops sells them and naturally it costs the highest. Common sense.
